Walk the Line: DVD

Now this is the way a movie should be done about a tortured musician. After watching the recent "Ray," and the not-so-recent "Bird," this movie about Johnny Cash hits all the right notes -- and also manages to be entertaining. This is a difficult task considering that Cash begins to self destruct and tries to bring everyone around him with him.

A Sound of Thunder and Other Stories: Book

I read the title story of this collection last night, "A Sound of Thunder." It was interesting to compare to the movie that I just watched. There's no other writer like Ray Bradbury. His descriptions of the T-Rex in this story are so vivid, I almost felt like I was standing there.

Moon: The Life and Death of a Rock Legend: Book

As I've listened to disc 2 the "The Who: The Ultimate Collection," I keep thinking about the man playing all those innovative drum beats. I haven't been able to reconcile Keith Moon's hedonistic legend with the artist.

In a lot of ways, I guess the artist lives a somewhat separate life from his art. You could listen to The Who and never know that the drummer was someone who lived on the edge of sanity; that he was an alcoholic; that he was a husband and a father. I've always been interested in the intersection between those two lives.

So far, I've just read the Forward and flipped through the pictures, but this looks to be an interesting read -- even if it is 608 pages long!

Sargeant Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band: CD

Been listening to this classic album today with my two boys. It's amazing how this album holds together so well but also how each song is so different.

Bruce Lee: Quest of the Dragon - Xbox

I found this Xbox game second-hand. While not the best Xbox game I've ever played, it does feature Bruce Lee's characteristic sounds and actions, and you do get to use nunchucks.

The Greatest Game Ever Played: DVD

I actually tried to see this one in the theater, but it left too quickly. "Greatest Game" is the best kind of sports movie, with an inspiring story, great visuals and direction, and excellent acting. Recommended for kids, too.

A Sound of Thunder: DVD

This was a pretty cool movie about time travel, based on a Ray Bradbury short story.

Ray Bradbury is one of my favorites (he's on my list of favorite writers). Here's a list of some of his best books:

King Kong (2005): DVD

I watched King Kong with my son and his friends (I fast-forwarded some of the scary parts). With multiple viewings, this film is even more astonishing.
